The 3rd Stream Giants proudly provides the Funk you Thunk was gone. But it wasn't always so. In December 2006, guitarist Matt Montoro and saxophonist Justin Duff scheduled the first 3rd Stream Giants gig as an instrumental duet. Just 2 days before the show, drummer Mike Smith and bassist Aaron Fast joined the band. Within a couple of months, trumpeter Lars Holmstrom and trombonist Jeremy Wall had been integrated into the group. At this point the Giants were playing a style of instrumental music called Third Stream Jazz. In the summer of 2007, vocalist Anthony Campbell walked through the doors of the 3rd Stream Music Studio. The Giants quickly recognized that a change of direction was in order. The Giants still pepper their setlists with instrumental grooves, but the band is now known for a different stream of music. Their brand of Funky Horn Pop delights the ears and gets the bodies movin' on the dance floor.
